Marty Jannetty is shedding more light on his recent Facebook post where he claimed he killed a man who attempted to sexually assault him as a teenager.
One day after he wrote a post on Facebook where he described an incident where he allegedly killed a man who tried to attack him, Jannetty joined Boston Wrestling to share in detail what happened to him and why he put up the post. As described in the original post, Jannetty said he “made a man disappear” for the first time out of retaliation for an attempted sexual assault behind the bowling alley where he worked.
“I never told no one this, even my brother Geno..cause Geno would’ve killed him, and I didn’t want my brother gone,,hell he’d only recently came home from Viet Nam..I was 13, working at Victory Lanes bowling alley, buying weed from a fag that worked there..and he put his hands on me..he dragged me around to the back of the building..you already know what he was gonna try to do..
“That was the very first time I made a man disappear..they never found him..they shoulda looked in the Chattahoochie River..but Winnie(the girl in these pics) I likes you so damn much, probably my favorite..but I promised myself way back then, nobody would ever hurt me again..that includes you..I loved you but you hurt me with your fuckin Jamaican jealousy..you can go your own way, I don’t need you..”
Speaking with Boston Wrestling, Jannetty claims the man fondled him in a car and when he tried to get away, the man grabbed him by the hair and dragged him behind the bowling alley. He went on to say that the man tried to rape him and attempted to pull his pants down before he was able to defend himself. When asked how he got away from his attacker, Jannetty said he “probably [doesn’t] need to say this but there was a brick laying there.”
“What I said on my Facebook post, because I don’t want to lie about nothing—what do you do when you’re 13?” Jannetty said. “It was the right thing in that moment, I don’t know how else you handle it.”
Jannetty said he didn’t care how big the man is, he was protecting himself because he was scared.
“I can’t say he deserved to die but he deserved to get his ass beat. When I was beating him in the head with a brick, I was only trying to beat his ass,” Jannetty said. “I wasn’t trying to kill him.”
Jannetty says he’s been advised not to do interviews and shouldn’t have posted anything about it online. He briefly spoke about the investigation opening up as a result of his Facebook post, noting that it deeply affected him mentally. Jannetty says his recollection was that he found out the man was missing after dragging his body towards the river and that he made up his mind that day that no one would ever hurt him again and that “All’s I know is no other kids had to worry about him.”
Jannetty closed by saying he couldn’t believe someone could treat someone as badly as that, and he might have “translated” it poorly because he lost it and tends to react that way when girls get jealous and mad at him.
Jannetty’s initial post was deleted on Wednesday; the Columbus Police Department in Georgia is now looking into the matter. “The first step will be seeing if we have any missing persons or unidentified remains cases that match the limited information in the post,” the department said in a statement issued to TMZ.
