NJPW continued their Summer Struggle tour on Friday with another night in Korakuen Hall. The show was headlined by over a century of experience, when Yuji Nagata battled Minoru Suzuki in the main event. Suzuki made a statement, avenging his first round loss in the New Japan Cup by spiking Nagata into the cerulean blue canvas with a Gotch Piledriver.
Elsewhere on the card, Kota Ibushi showed frustration at his & Hiroshi Tanahashi’s inability to get the upperhand on IWGP Tag Team Champions Zack Sabre Jr. & Taichi. The two are desperate for a rematch, since the Suzuki-gun duo won the belts earlier in the month at Dominion. Suzuki-gun got another win over Main Unit on Friday.
EVIL & Taiji Ishimori continue to plague Los Ingobernables de Japon. After a shoulder injury robbed the group of Hiromu Takahashi for the next few weeks, Ishimori & EVIL dismantled Naito & BUSHI in a tag match on Friday. Naito will challenge EVIL for the IWGP Double Heavyweight Titles on August 29th at Summer Struggle in Jingu. It will be EVIL’s second defense since beating Naito for the belts.
