Jim Ross recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated and reflected on the latest chapter of his legendary career, in which he’s been one of the voices of All Elite Wrestling. Ross repeatedly emphasized that being a wrestling commentator means everything to him. “‘All I’ve ever wanted to do is call the matches,’” said Ross via Barrasso.
While Ross’ work with WWE will never be forgotten, the WWE Hall of Famer says he’s optimistic about his post-WWE career. “‘It’s been a hell of a run so far, but it’s not over,’” said Ross via Barrasso. “‘Our best work in AEW is yet to come.’”
Ross also made a bold claim when he praised AEW’s commentators. “”I think we’re the best broadcast team in pro wrestling,”’ said Ross via Barrasso. “‘ I truly believe that. Even though I’m not a three-man booth guy, as a rule, we’re making it work. And it’s fun.’”
Lastly, Ross pointed out a few members of the AEW roster when he complimented the whole group. “‘It’s an honor to call the talent I’ve called and still do today,”’ said Ross via Barrasso. “‘They’re so passionate, creative, and talented. That resonates throughout our entire roster. Mox, Jericho, Cody, Britt Baker, Sonny Kiss, MJF, Scorpio Sky, they’ve got it.’”
