The Big Show Credits Brock Lesnar With Saving His Career

In many ways, The Big Show has become a household name; he’s a former world champion, and now his acting career is taking off with “The Big Show Show.” But, at one point during his legendary career, his time in WWE seemed like it was on thin ice. In a recent interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, The Big Show reflected on the period of time he spent in developmental. “‘[WWE] sent me down to Louisville after a knee surgery to rehabilitate and they kind of left me there for 10 months,’” said The Big Show via McCarthy. “‘They didn’t have creative for me and I kind of think it was one of those things where “this kid needs to go away and learn something.”’”

The Big Show described how his time in developmental saved his career; working with young stars, particularly Brock Lesnar, set up his success in the future. “‘These are experiences that were good for me to learn, but it was also good for me because I got to meet a lot of guys who were early in their career; Brock, Randy, John Cena and Dave Batista,’” said The Big Show via McCarthy.

The World’s Largest Athlete focused on Lesnar’s impact on his career. “‘I owe a resurgence of my career to Brock Lesnar,’” said The Big Show via McCarthy. He also recounted how Vince McMahon noticed The Big Show’s chemistry with Lesnar, who requested to work with the giant when he started making waves on the main roster. Per McCarthy, The Big Show credited Lesnar because this recognition gave him a second chance.

Ultimately, Lesnar and The Big Show went from main eventing OVW to going on last at main roster pay-per-views. “‘Down the line, Brock and I had some great feud,’” said The Big Show via McCarthy. “‘ I’ll never forget that stretcher match! Because I’m terrified of heights and he jacked me up about 30ft in the air on that forklift and he was just laughing knowing how scared I was up there! If you look at him when he’s on the forklift he’s legit laughing [laughs] because I’m just screaming like “you son of a gun!”’
