Michael Elgin No Longer Appearing In Any IMPACT Wrestling Programming

It looks like Michael Elgin’s tenure with IMPACT Wrestling has come to an end.

IMPACT Wrestling issued the following statement to WrestleZone, confirming Elgin will no longer be part of the company’s plans moving forward.

“Impact Wrestling announced that Michael Elgin will not be appearing in any further Impact Wrestling programming.”

Elgin’s departure is immediate, as he’s no longer listed on the company website on the roster or merchandise pages. IMPACT initially suspended Elgin on June 22 amidst allegations of misconduct and said he would remain suspended “pending further review of allegations of misconduct.” Elgin was recently accused of sending unsolicited sexual photos to women and his alleged role in covering up a sexual assault in 2017 also came back into light.

It remains to be seen how IMPACT will handle removing Elgin from footage as he was a major part of the company’s plans for the Slammiversary main event. Elgin was part of a five-way World Championship match featuring Trey Miguel, Ace Austin, Eddie Edwards and Tessa Blanchard, who was terminated by the promotion last night.

WrestleZone requested clarification regarding saying Elgin “will not be appearing” anymore (versus saying he was terminated); we were told that IMPACT Wrestling stands by the statement that was issued.

Elgin spoke with WrestleZone in October and said he wanted to overcome a few setbacks that followed him last year. Part of Elgin’s year in 2019 was spent resolving legal issues after he was accused of covering up claims of sexual assault against his student Sean Orleans. Elgin called it “a tough year personally” and felt like a weight has been lifted off of him that allows him to focus on his professional life again.

“Just for a personal level, that’s allowed me to really only focus on wrestling when I’m in that ring and it’s been a weight lifted off me and feel like I’m at the top of my game. I think that since April people have seen just how dedicated I am not only to my craft, but to IMPACT Wrestling.” Elgin said. “But that’s not going to stop and I go into a huge PPV like Bound For Glory to wrestle someone like Marufuji and then soon after then we record the first live shows. I believe I’m at the best I’ve ever been and I think that the rest of this year is just going to show how amazing the IMPACT roster is and how I’m ready to lead it into the future.”
