Randy Orton: ‘The Redemption Of Edge Is Over’

This week on WWE RAW, Christian held a special edition of The Peep Show. With WWE Backlash just six days away, he hosted his friend and former tag team partner, Edge ahead of the Rated R Superstar’s match with Randy Orton. Christian told Edge he thinks he’s running on fumes and said he doubted Edge could compete in “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever,” even in his prime. “If you think, even for one second, that you can live up to that, then you’re lying to yourself,” said Christian. Edge questioned whether Christian had tried to understand what he’s going through. “This isn’t the same Edge that used to look you in the eye every night,” said Edge. “Pardon me if this Edge has self-doubt.”

Edge said Orton has been firing on all cylinders in the nine years he’s been gone. “I don’t know how many cylinders I still have under the hood,” said Edge. Christian interrogated Edge about what he thought would happen when he came back to WWE. Christian reminded Edge of his mom’s support. “If Edge isn’t gonna show up at Backlash, then step through these ropes and go home, right now,” said Christian. Captain Charisma told Edge he believes in him. “We think you can do this,” said Christian. “We think you’re as good now as you’ve ever been.”

Orton, on the screen at the Performance Center, interrupted the show. “I am going to embarrass you, I am going to humiliate you,” said Orton. The Viper promised to force Edge to go back home. “This Sunday at Backlash, in the greatest wrestling match ever, the redemption of Edge is over.”

Edge had one final message: “No, it’s not.”
