Lio Rush Calls Out WWE For Drake Maverick Storyline, Says It’s A ‘Slap In The Face’

Lio Rush is happy for Drake Maverick, but certainly has questions in WWE’s methods. The former WWE star went on Twitter to share his thoughts regarding the on-air reveal that took place last night at NXT when Drake Maverick fought his way all the way to the finals of the NXT tournament, but ultimately lost the match and therein ending his tenure with WWE. That was until Triple H played duex ex machina and offered Maverick a renewal contract. The former NXT Cruiserweight Champion in Rush was not a fan of the on-air developments.

“Man….Are they going to hire everyone back then? Kind of a slap in the face to use this as a shoot work. But i guess I’m not surprised. Super happy for anyone getting there job back. But damn, real trauma and a lot of others were apart of this,” Rush first Tweeted out before further explaining his stance on the matter.

Rush was one of the many talents to be released on April 15 as the world was facing the unknown of the COVID-19 pandemic. Maverick also happened to be one of those names, but since then fans have gotten to see Maverick’s underdog journey play out on-screen for the black and gold brand as we head into NXT TakeOver: In Your House.
