Via a series of vignettes, Io Shirai says she will be the next NXT Champion while underwater. Switching to Reha Ripley, she runs us through her morning routine. Ripley says her career hit its highest point in 2019. It’s all been downhill in 2020. Charlotte is shown working out in the ring at the Performance Center. Flair says she made NXT and she came back to make a point.
Cameron Grimes vs. Bronson Reed
Grimes tries to lift Reed, to no avail. Manhattan drop by Reed. Reed press slams Grimes. Senton by Reed. Reed flattens Grimes with a body block. Grimes crawls into the corner. Reed flattens Grimes with a running hip attack. Reed goes up top. Reed misses a splash. Grimes nails Reed with the Cave In for the win.
Winner- Cameron Grimes
As Grimes crows about beating Bálor, Karrion Kross is standing in the ring. Grimes runs away. As Scarlet watches on, Kross obliterates Reed with the Doomsday Saito.
Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Finals: El Hijo Del Fantasma vs. Drake Maverick
Fantasma shakes Maverick’s hand. Fantasma tries to sneak in a quick roll-up but Maverick kicks out. Fantasma works over Maverick’s arm. Maverick surprises Fantasma with a flying head scissors. Fantasma falls out of the ring. Maverick follows. Maverick catches Fantasma with a front flip senton off the apron. After the break, Fantasma slams Maverick outside the ring. Fantasma sends Maverick back into the ring to get a two count. Fantasma puts Maverick in a surfboard stretch. Maverick gets to the ropes. Backdrop driver by Fantasma. Maverick kicks out again. Maverick dives off the second rope but Fantasma catches Maverick and locks him in a Boston Crab.
Maverick manages to get to the ropes. Fantasma lands a nasty powerbomb. Maverick kicks out. Maverick slaps Fantasma. Fantasma pounds on Maverick in the corner. Maverick fires up again and knocks Fantasma into the corner. Wheelbarrow bulldog by Maverick. Flying elbow by Maverick. Fantasma kicks out at one. Fantasma crushed Maverick with a spinebuster. Fantasma goes up top. Maverick cuts him off. Fantasma and Maverick both fall off the top. The masked men walk down to the ring. Maverick takes them both out via a suicide dive. Maverick proceeds to breast the breaks off of both men. Maverick rolls back into the ring and gets superkicked. Fantasma hits his finish for the win.
Winner and NEW Interim NXT Cruiserweight Champion, El Hijo Del Fantasma!
After the match, the crowd gives Maverick a standing ovation while chanting “Thank you, Drake!” Maverick leans into the camera and thanks the fans. Triple H walks out on the ramp as Maverick is walking to the back. Triple H puts his arm around Drake and tells him that he’s earned this. Triple H gives Maverick a contract. Maverick signs it on the spot.
