Update: According to PWInsider.com, Matt Riddle is joining the SmackDown roster.
Plans for Riddle joining the blue brand were reportedly in place prior to WrestleMania 36 but they were put on hold temporarily. Talk of Riddle finally switching brands started back up a few weeks ago.
During his time on the NXT roster, Riddle won the 2019 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with Pete Dunne and they held the NXT Tag Team Championship for 87 days in their lone reign.
Matt Riddle won’t be NXT’s resident bro and stallion for much longer.
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, the former NXT Tag Team Champion is set to be called up to the main roster in the imminent future. It’s unsure whether he’ll appear on WWE SmackDown or RAW at this point. However, it’s said that his cage bout against Timothy Thatcher will either be a “blow-off” match or lead to his exit.
