It’s been weeks since WrestleMania 36 host Rob Gronkowski won the WWE 24/7 Championship at the event, making him one of the most lasting holders of the belt in a single reign. Of course, with his announced return to football and many wrestlers under lockdown, it may be unlikely that he’ll lose it to a WWE star anytime soon. However, that doesn’t mean that The Gronk can rest easy.
On his Gronk’d UP podcast, the champ says that he imagines various football players could challenge for the wrestling title or even his coach.
Imagine coming out of the meeting room, I’m like looking to my left down the hallway … looking to my right to make sure no one is out of the meetings yet, and then all of a sudden … Coach Arians just comes out of nowhere with a flying elbow and takes me out and pins me and becomes the 24/7 champ
Arians confirmed his intentions later in the week on an episode of NFL Live on ESPN. “[Gronk] better keep his head on a swivel … I may take it from him.” Coach Arians is likely just playing around, WWE would be foolish to pass up such an easy opportunity to get their brand into other sports. While we may not see the green belt in a WWE ring for a long while, it could travel the ESPN circuit and make for a fun storyline to follow for wrestling and sports fans alike.
