Chris Jericho On Returning To The Ring, Keeping Busy In Quarantine

This week marked the last edition of AEW Dynamite that will air on a tape delay for the immediate future. The company organized a month of recorded shows in late March, running through the TNT Championship Tournament. They featured a lot of the same talent in each episode, with folks like Chris Jericho filling in the gaps on commentary, as he clarified in a recent talk with Newsweek.

I think that was a great kind of stopgap measure to keep the star power on the show because we had a smaller crew for those four weeks that will plug up the gaps and I can kind of be one of the focuses of the show without being the focus of the show if that makes sense.

However, just because Jericho made such a splash with Tony Schivone behind the desk, it doesn’t mean he’s done in the ring. “As fun as it is to commentate, that’s maybe something I’ll do more in the future. But I think it’s time to kind of take control again, outside of the commentary booth.”

Jericho feels that the AEW roster is ready to get back to work after being homeward bound for an entire month. “I find that the worst thing you could do is kind of fall into the trap of, ‘Oh, it’s like Groundhog Day, it’s like every other day because that’s just the way it is.” Jericho says he’s been keeping busy with his many ventures, and he’ll be happy to return to Florida for this coming Wednesday. “The more you kind of basically entertain yourself, the better off you’re going to be.”
