Cain Velasquez will not get another chance to take on Brock Lesnar in WWE.

According to a report by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the former UFC Champion was released by WWE as part of a wider range of furloughs that took place in an effort to cut costs as the world adjust to the changes and economic impact taking place due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Cain’s time in WWE was short. Debuting on the first episode of SmackDown on FOX, Velasquez would go on to have a 2-minute championship match with Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia and one more match where he teamed with Rey Mysterio at a live event in Mexico.

Initially, Triple H had stated that Velasquez signed a three-year deal with the promotion with a lot of emphasis on the developmental side of WWE.

WrestleZone will continue to monitor this story and report any and all statements made by WWE or Cain Velasquez on the matter.
