Zach Sammartino, Nephew Of Bruno, Looks To Be A NFL Draftee This Weekend

Starting in 2020, Bruno Sammartino’s legacy may carry on over to the NFL gridiron. The Living Legend’s great nephew Zach Sammartino is going to be right in the thick of this weekend’s NFL Draft, which virtually began last night.

Sammartino, also a resident of Bruno’s Pittsburgh, went to Dartmouth and played offensive guard for the Ivy League school for the past five seasons. At 6’4″ and 310 lbs, Zach was named first-team All-Ivy League this season and is slated to go in the later rounds. Sammartino was asked about his legendary late uncle who states he is proud to carry on his uncle’s legacy.

“It’s a cool thing. People talk about him a lot,” Sammartino said. “People recognize the last name since I’m from Pittsburgh. It’s a cool thing to carry on the family name.” and Zach states he hopes to make it stick in the NFL. The weight-training regiment instilled by his family has been a big help.

“I have really good genes all around,” he said. “My dad and uncle were really big getting me started in lifting and teaching me the right way to go about stuff. I think my genes and my pedigree have definitely helped me get where I am today.”

Being from the Steel City, Sammartino is obviously a Steelers fan, but looks forward to seeing events unfold this weekend.

“We’ve had Steelers season tickets for as long as I can remember, up until I went to school,” Sammartino commented. “It always would be really cool to be on your hometown team. Honestly, it’s been a dream of mine to play in the NFL for as long as I can remember.”
