Vince McMahon On When WWE Will Hold Next Live Event: ‘I Don’t Have A Crystal Ball’

WWE, and pro wrestling in general, thrive on a live audience. Vince McMahon and company have adapted to the current situation where this is impossible, but it’s also impossible to resist speculate as to when fans can be restored to these empty arenas. When asked about a timeframe in a recent conference call, Vince said that there were no easy answers.

I have no idea. I know people are itching to get out of the house and come see our product for sure, but I don’t know when it’s going to be allowed. I don’t know what it’s going to look like when it is allowed. I don’t think anyone does. Right now, we’re just taking it month by month as we continue and push it further out every month in terms of when we’re going to do this thing. I really have no crystal ball on it at all.”

WWE has currently made its home base in Florida, declared an essential business by the same state government that’s opening up the state’s beaches for the public. If they stay in the Sunshine State, it’s possible that they may be in a position to run some form of live event before the rest of the nation is ready for reopening, but that’s just speculation. As of now, it’s all about staying nimble with cinematic matches and a reduced roster as the months go on.
