As first spotted by PWInsider, WWE has altered the deal across the pond when it comes to NXT and the WWE Network. After their recent deal with BT Sports to show NXT on UK television, they’ve instituted a one week delay on uploading new episodes of the program on their own streaming service. Note that this is for American NXT airing in the UK and not NXT UK which is currently in a holding pattern due to the global pandemic.
The change is effective immediately, and the company hasn’t made any formal announcements via official channels at this time. In fact, many fans are finding out about the change via WWE Network support on Twitter, which is a feed full of disappointed fans.
This arrangement is similar to episodes of Raw and SmackDown in the US, although we have to wait several weeks to watch after they’ve aired on USA and/or FOX. With NXT going to USA recently, it’s possible that this style of delay could take hold elsewhere upon renegotiation. With WWE Network reportedly struggling already after NXT’s move to television, it’s a move that the company is likely very hesitant to make.
