Charlotte Flair beat Finn Balor to the punch, becoming the first main roster star to return to NXT competition and grab gold. She defeated Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 36, gaining the NXT Women’s Championship in the process for the second time in her career. Talking with TV Insider after her championship win, Charlotte expresses hope that she can show off her new gold to the entire WWE roster regardless of branding. “Do I need to be drafted to NXT? [Laughs] How is this going to work? I hope I get to work at all three brands.”
Going into her bout, Charltote said that she wants to elevate the NXT Women’s Championship to new heights befitting the brand it represents. “I wanted to do it justice. I never faced Rhea before, other than a couple minutes on SmackDown without a storyline build. I thought, ‘How do I want to take this audience on a roller coaster and make people believe Charlotte Flair was going to win the NXT women’s championship?'”
When asked about future challengers, Charlotte says she’s looking ahead to Candice LeRae, Mia Yim, and Bianca Belair. “It’s crazy, a whole new group of girls. Everyone knows that I’m probably the most competitive person in the locker room, so I’m going to want to have the best division.”
