Ohio Valley Wrestling, the long-running independent territory that has served as a training ground for WWE and IMPACT over the years, has run local TV tapings for more than 25 years. There have been breaks before, but it’s likely that there has not been a break like the one that starts now. OVW officials announced that they’re canceling all TV events for the company until April 7th.

This isn’t to say that there will be nothing airing in place of OVW TV. The regular time slot will be filled by highlights from OVW past. “We have never missed a week of television and we won’t start now,” OVW Owner Al Snow said. “Our library is a treasure trove of wrestling and we are already hard at work putting together special editions of OVW TV that will lead up to our fan appreciation night.”
On a national stage, both WWE and AEW seem dedicated to keeping their weekly broadcasts on the air, although they will perform in front of an empty arena. Time will tell if that remains viable throughout the Coronavirus’ run of planet Earth, or if action similar to this from OVW will need to be taken to ensure the safety of these performers.
