In a move that mirrors the actual wrestling world, Starz has sought out a football star to fill the roster for its pro wrestling venture. Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison will be one of the starring players on Heels, an hourlong drama set in the world of in-ring competition. Harrison will play a character named “Apocalypse,” a veteran performer who doesn’t aspire to fame or glory after decades of matches.

Harrison will be joining Arrow’s Stephen Amell and Vikings’ Alexander Ludwig on the show, along with other new signees Chris Bauer and Allen Maldonado. A full synopsis of the show from Starz is reproduced below:
Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.
