To kick off NXT TakeOver: Portland, NXT North American Champion Keith Lee defended his title against Dominik Dijakovic. The competitors have met several times throughout their NXT careers, and, in Sunday’s match, the stakes were higher than they’ve ever been. Both men showcased their athleticism throughout the contest; Lee caught a diving Dijakovic early in the match.

Dijakovic hit an impressive corkscrew dive for a near fall. Lee and Dijakovic traded stiff blows and threw everything they had at each other. Dijakovic hit an avalanche Feast Your Eyes for another near fall. But Lee Pounced Dijakovic into the corner. The challenger hit a diving senton off the apron onto a seated Lee at ringside.

Dijakovic rolled through a Spirit Bomb and kicked out of a second one. An avalanche Spanish Fly earned Dijakovic another near fall. The challenger failed to lift Lee for the Feast Your Eyes and Lee pinned Dijakovic after the Big Bang Catastrophe.
