Flip Gordon is fully committed to Ring Of Honor in 2020 and he’s going to keep building his name and take advantage of every opportunity he gets, starting with his match at Free Enterprise this Sunday.

Gordon had a conversation with WrestleZone’s Kevin Kellam and “The Mercenary” gave some details regarding Ring Of Honor’s Free Enterprise at Baltimore’s UMBC Event Center, a free-to-attend live wrestling event that is being held to thank fans for nearly twenty years of support. Flip Gordon will be facing Slex, who will be making his ROH debut at the February 9 show. Gordon is aware of the Australian wrestling star’s game, noting that he also looks forward to the influx of talent ROH has coming in.

“I am familiar with him. I’ve actually wrestled in Australia so I’ve seen him wrestle numerous times. I think he’s going to be a great addition to the Ring of Honor roster and I love all the talent coming up,” Gordon said, “a lot of stars will get hungry because we gotta fight for our spots and the new people coming in, new matches, new storylines. It’s a new era so I’m very excited. I think everybody getting an opportunity deserves it and we’re going to earn even more and more opportunities.”

With the big setbacks and eventual changes that ROH has faced as the year turned to 2020, Flip definitely feels a more positive vibe in the locker room.

“The feeling right now in the Ring Of Honor locker room from what I have seen is that everybody is very motivated. Motivated more than I’ve ever seen before, myself included because we know that there’s a lot of eyes on us. People want to see what we’re gonna do this year. There’s a lot of chatter,” Gordon noted, “so we’ve got a chance to show them because we know they’re watching. There’s pressure and as you know diamonds are made under pressure.”

Gordon previously confirmed he had signed a two-year contract with Ring Of Honor that would see him remain with the company until sometime in 2020. Gordon clarified his status with ROH, saying that he’s still committed to the cause and at the same time finds himself in a unique position with the ever-shifting wrestling landscape.

“My status right now is I am with Ring Of Honor. I am fully committed to Ring Of Honor. I am waiting to see what happens just like everyone else ’cause we got exciting news that we haven’t even told anybody yet. I’m in a position where I can kind of see how the landscape changes in wrestling over the next six or so months, and I’m not going to take that position for granted, but I’m not going to slack off, I’m gonna continue to make a name for myself, continue to raise my stock, continue to help Villain Enterprises raise their stock and continue to take the rest of the business by storm.”

Kellam and Gordon also discussed Marty Scurll’s new role in the company as lead booker and Gordon gives his good friend major props for taking a role in his very own development.

“He is more creative than any other person I’ve ever met. He’s the main brainchild behind The Mercenary. He was the one that was helping me come up with this gimmick. When I blew out my knee,” Gordon said, “he called me, he said, ‘Don’t worry about it. We’re going to figure this out. I’m going to help you, whatever you need.’ He was really there for me and he’s been there for me since Japan, since before Japan. He’s been a mentor and it’s been really cool.”
