On Corey Graves’ After The Bell podcast, Drew McIntyre spoke about his WWE career so far and his mindset going into 2020. He reveals that he was told to “just react” to Vince McMahon’s introduction of him early in his career and that he didn’t know anything about the “Chosen One” gimmick until that moment.
After several years with the company, Drew was fired. He remembers getting the call and asking himself why he hadn’t been giving his all in his career. He immediately worked to change that, organizing new bookings overseas and trying to make a statement. He eventually appeared in Evolve, and that led to his NXT career and his WWE resurgence. “I went from this boy who threw away his opportunity, his dream, because he wasn’t giving his all, to finally growing up and becoming a man who’s doing what he was supposed to do all along.”
