Jerry Lawler On AEW Trying To Pop The Crowd With Memphis Wrestling Tribute

AEW will host a tribute to Memphis Wrestling on this week’s episode of Dynamite. There are many names advertised as being part of the event, but one conspicuous by his absence is Jerry Lawler. The so-called “King of Memphis,” Jerry is the most legendary name to come out of the area, but his WWE ties make him an understandable absence. Still, that didn’t stop Lawler from commenting on the tribute show and why he thinks the fledgling company is honoring the past.

When talking on the CerritoLive podcast, Jerry says that he’s spoken with many that will be attending the show.”I have talked to some guys and I think they’re gonna have quite a few guys who were well known in Memphis.” In addition, he feels that AEW isn’t genuinely concerned with the legacy of his home territory.

I think a tribute to Memphis Wrestling is actually the last thing on their minds. They’re looking to sell some tickets and pop the crowd.

We’ll see for ourselves when Dynamite airs its Memphis Tribute tonight on TNT.
