Wrestle Kingdom 14 Predictions

NIGHT 1:
IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Kota Ibushi –
Given the way the stage has been set throughout the year, my money is on Ibushi here.
He has truly been built up to be the one to unseat the Rainmaker. Another thing to take into
account is how long Okada’s current title run has been as well as the length of his last reign
before this one which was two years. This really could be the Golden Star’s moment. NJPW
fans are in for a barn burner and a half with this match.
IWGP Intercontinental Championship: Jay White (c) vs Tetsuya Naito –
I have to go with the Ungovernable one here. The story being told really seems to lean
toward this happening especially after the crowd reaction to Naito’s losses to White in the B
Block finals of G1 29 and at DESTRUCTION IN KOBE . Look for big things to happen here.
IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship: Will Ospreay (c) vs Hiromu Takahashi –
This match will no doubt be filled with unforgettable moments. Most likely, it will be the
Ticking Time Bomb getting the win here. Expect the Aerial Assassin to put up an epic fight
though in his effort to defend the Junior Championship.
IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship: Lance Archer (c) vs Jon Moxley –
Can the Death Rider unseat the Murder Hawk Monster? I think he can, but this is
definitely a tough call to make. Moxley is my favorite here, but it feels like Archer will most likely
retain. One thing that can be said for sure is that the first ever Texas Death Match to take place
in the Tokyo Dome is going to be a brutal one.
IWGP Heavyweight Team Championships: Guerillas Of Destiny (c) vs FinJuice –
Given how long G.O.D.’s current title reign has been, they will most likely be unseated by
FinJuice. Don’t be surprised if we see some classic Bullet Club shenanigans though.
CHAOS (Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano & YOSHI-Hashi) vs Bullet Club (KENTA,
Bad Luck Fale, Yujiro Takahashi & Chase Owens) –
I’ve got CHAOS winning here.
Los Ingobernables de Japon (EVIL, SANADA, Shingo Takagi & BUSHI) vs Suzuki-gun
(Zack Sabre jr, Minoru Suzuki, Taichi & El Desperado) –
It will most likely be LIJ getting the win in this one.
Jyushin Thunder Liger, Tatsumi Fujinami, The Great Sasuke & Tiger Mask vs Naoki Sano,
Shinjiro Otani, Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Ryusuke Taguchi –
The win will most likely go to team Liger here. Expect a fun showcase of the history of junior heavyweight wrestling in this match.
Pre-show Match: Tencozy vs Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi –
Tencozy will most likely win this one. It will definitely be a fun match featuring NJPW’s
third generation.
Pre-show Match: Great Bash Heels (Tomoaki Honma & Togi Makabe), Yuya Uemura & Yota Tsuji vs Toa Henare, Alex Coughlin, Clark Connors & Karl Fredericks –
GBH and the Tokyo young lions will most likely win this one. So happy the young lions
are going to be wrestling in the Tokyo Dome for the first time ever.
NIGHT 2:
Winner of Okada – Ibushi vs Winner Of White – Naito for DOUBLE GOLD DASH winner –
This one will most likely end up being Ibushi vs Naito with Ibushi winning the Double
Gold Dash. I get the feeling this will lead to their feud being revisited and them going back and
forth throughout 2020 until DOMINION where Naito will win the IWGP Championship in Osaka.
Winning in Osaka would be more significant for Naito given his relationship with the Osaka
crowd. No momentum will be lost on Naito’s end if he loses here.
Loser of Okada – Ibushi vs Loser of White – Naito –
Here we will most likely be Okada vs White with Okada winning. This will create an
opportunity to move in a new direction for both of them. This could lead to some interesting
stuff especially after the New Year Dash.
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Chris Jericho –
The win will most likely go to the Ace in this one. This match has the potential to be a
great step forward in building a working relationship between New Japan and AEW.
NEVER Openweight Championship: KENTA (c) vs Hirooki Goto-
This match is sure to be a hard hitting, all out war. Goto will most likely uneat KENTA
here.
IWGP United States Championship: Winner Of Archer – Moxley vs Juice Robinson –
This is another tough one to call. I think Juice will end up having to face Moxley and
lose which will allow him to focus on his tag team reign with David Finlay.
REVPRO British Heavyweight Championship: Zack Sabre jr vs SANADA –
Given how long ZSJ’s run with this title, I’ve got SANADA winning this one.
IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship: Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo vs
Roppongi 3K –
SHO and YOH will most likely unseat Ishimori and ELP here. Expect another barn burner with this match.
Jyushin Thunder Liger & Naoki Sano vs Hiromu Takahashi & Ryu Lee –
With this being Liger’s last match, we will most likely see Hiromu and Lee get the win in this match.
NEVER Openweight Six Man Championship Gauntlet –
It really feels like either CHAOS or LIJ will win this one. This will definitely be fun to watch especially with Yano in the mix.
