Former TNA Tag Team Champion German ‘Apolo’ Figueroa is set to make his mixed martial arts debut when Combate Americas hosts their first-ever event in Puerto Rico next month.
Combate Americas is set to announce three new fights for the first live television MMA event in the country in more than 23 years at Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan on Saturday, January 25. Figueroa, who had three different stints with TNA between 2002-06, will make his debut against John Calloway (0-3).
Figueroa, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound goliath, has been preparing in San Juan for the last year for his transition to MMA. The 6-foot-1, 265-pound Calloway hails from Chesterfield, Va. and will look for his first win as a professional after suffering a first-round submission loss to Anthony Horn in Calloway’s lone 2019 start on October 19.
Other fights for the event include Zedekiah Montanez versus Billy Molina in featherweight action, Omar Vega versus Jomal Rodriguez at lightweight, and a previously announced 130-pound women’s bout between Amanda Serrano and Dahianna Santana.

The historic Combate Americas event will mark the first time that a live television MMA show takes place on the island since Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren, a co-founder of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), executive produced UFC 8 in November 1996.
Combate Americas’ most recent event on December 7 was headlined by Tito Ortiz versus Alberto El Patron; Ortiz won the fight by submission in the first round.
