Tito Ortiz says he knows Alberto El Patron has experience in the ring, but he believes he has the upper hand in their fight this weekend.
Ortiz recently spoke with Kevin Kellam ahead of his fight against Patron for Combate Americas and he’s aware of Alberto’s fighting background, but he has an advantage because of all of the world-class athletes he’s faced in his career.
“I know he’s traveled the world fighting many opponents in amateur wrestling, and he was good at Greco Roman. I know he fought in Japan at PRIDE, his record is 9-5, he has some fights. And he’s bigger than me, it’s the first time I’ve fought a guy who’s bigger than me. I get about a five-pound advantage,” Ortiz said, “but I don’t think weight is going to be a difference here. It comes down to the competition. I’ve fought the best of the best for the past 22 years. I really think he bit off a bit more than he can chew.”
Ortiz says he expects to win easily on Saturday night and related it to Alberto being a hunted animal and he’s on the prowl. The ‘Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ says he’s going to walk away with his hands raised and in possession of two world titles, per the side bet he has with Alberto on the fight.
“The cage is locked behind me, there’s another man in front of me. If you guys are tuning into Discovery Channel thinking that this is the Tito Ortiz/Alberto Del Rio PPV. I’ll be the animal. I’m going to be the lion and I haven’t eaten a long time. And the lion will roar and keep his domain and his kingdom and that’s the cage and I’m gonna have my hands raised,” Ortiz said, “I’ll be having two world titles. My Light Heavyweight Title that I own already and a new heavyweight WWE world title.”
