Rusev Says He Wasn’t ‘Held Hostage,’ He’d Go Back To Saudi Arabia

The Sun out of the United Kingdom conducted an exclusive interview with Rusev who happened to be one of the vocal stars during the Saudi Arabia flight heading back late to the United States from WWE Crown Jewel. In the short chat, Rusev addressed the situation, but stated that he was so vocal because he wanted to get home.

“Unpleasant, of course, because we all wanted to go home after being away for over 24 hours … We were all ready to get out and we couldn’t.”

He also stated that “going home” was the reason he asked for prayers and since is father is a pastor, asking for prayers is nothing new with him. “The frustration just grew by each hour and me asking for prayers is nothing new. My father is a pastor, I’m a believer in God, Jesus Christ, our saviour, so I always ask for prayers just because I wanted to go home, not because we were held hostage.”

Rusev believes that there was never a “hostage situation” happening in Saudi Arabia and can’t buy into the fact that 170 American citizens would be held captive. “I don’t think anyone in their rightful mind is going to hold 170 people, American citizens, hostage, I don’t think that’ll reflect well anywhere.”

The Bulgarian Brute said he “definitely” going back to the country for future events because of the money involved and has enjoyed every time he’s gotten to make the trip out there. “I love it, I love every single trip that we do there, I love how we break barriers with women wrestling there and Lana being able to go. I think it’s a great victory for the company, not just for that, but to open new doors and new opportunities to develop further, it’s just amazing. It’s a great opportunity for us to be ambassadors for entertainers.”
