Two former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champions could meet inside the squared circle. Last week it was revealed that Cain Velasquez had entered talks with WWE officials about potentially signing with the company, and now Dave Meltzer has more information on the deal at MMA Fighting.
According to Meltzer, WWE is looking to sign Velasquez and build to a match between him and Brock Lesnar. This would be a rematch of their UFC 121 bout that saw Velasquez win UFC championship gold for the first time. However, don’t expect such a move to happen immediately as it is said that Velasquez “undergo knee surgery prior to any type of long-term commitment with a pro wrestling company,” and that he still has fights on his UFC contract.
So a deal between WWE and UFC, who have worked together in the past, would likely have to be made similar to the clause that allowed Velasquez to do his matches in AAA.
