Chris Jericho isn’t worried about WWE adding NXT to a busy Wednesday night of wrestling. He spoke with Busted Open Radio about the decision and he doesn’t think there will be a major crossover of viewers. In fact, he thought it will be a negative move by WWE as they are being reactionary.
“We still don’t know who our fanbase is,” explained Jericho. “I don’t think there is a lot of crossover between WWE fans and AEW fans. I think a lot of people that are into AEW … haven’t watched in a while or are looking for something different. Maybe they don’t like WWE. I think WWE is great, but the point is there’s too much WWE as it is. By adding another two hours it really dilutes the product, their mindset, and their focus. It’s a reactionary move by a guy that wants to start a war but we don’t care if you want to start a war. That was never our intention. There’s no war for us. We’re just doing what we’re doing. Some people don’t like that and react to that, but it just dilutes their own product.
“If you remember in the 90s, Nitro would start at 7:57 and RAW started at 8. The reason we got three minutes early was because we wanted our pyro three minutes earlier than theirs. Who gives a crap? Who cares what the pyro is. What’s the show like. Don’t worry about what the other guy is doing, worry about your own stuff … I don’t care about any other wrestling company in the world”
