Davey Boy Smith Jr. is looking to follow both Bobby Lashley and Jack Swagger into the Bellator MMA cage. In an interview with The Hannibal TV, the Major League Wrestling star discussed his mixed martial arts aspirations.
Smith Jr. revealed that he hasn’t yet talked to Scott Coker or anyone in the promotion. “I need to be back in the training room all summer and getting in shape,” said the wrestler. “So, yes I am interested. I haven’t spoken with them yet. I need to be back in California training with Josh Barnett again.”
Smith Jr. said that he liked how Jake Hager is being brought along and that he’s getting time to adjust inside the ring rather than being thrown into fights with more experienced opponents like CM Punk in the UFC. So, he’d like a similar route in his first few fights before moving on to better competition.
