Kofi Kingston Retains WWE Championship, Will Face Randy Orton At SummerSlam

Tonight’s WWE Smackville finale saw a triple threat match between Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, and Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship, with Kingston once again having the odds stacked against him to defend his title. In a match that went back-and-forth between all three, it was Kingston who once again found a way to turn things around and come out the match on top, and retain his WWE Championship.

To start the match, Joe and Ziggler both clearly had a plan to try and take down Kingston early and often. However, after Kingston was able to consistently come back from the attacks a handful of times, both Joe and Ziggler quickly gave up and began attacking each other. What followed was a chaotic contest between all three, but ended with Kingston being able to land a Trouble in Paradise on Joe that knocked him out long enough to get the pinfall.

With the victory, Kingston’s SummerSlam match against Randy Orton for the WWE Championship is now officially set, giving Kingston another chance to defend his title against a stellar superstar.
