Eve Torres on Returning To WWE For RAW Reunion, Teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Josiah Williams was backstage at RAW Reunion and he took a few minutes to interview former Diva’s Champion Eve Torres about returning to WWE and her new job teaching martial arts to women.

What does it feel like to be back on set in WWE?

Imagine if you went back to high school and all of the classrooms are the same and your locker was in the same place and the same people were there kinda-sort of. That’s kind of how it feels. It’s weird, you get back in and you’re like “Alright, do I need to put the gear on, am I ready for a match?” then I remember “No, I’m just visiting.” It’s really fun, it’s so great to connect to a lot of lifelong friends I met in WWE.

Did you get a chance to talk with any of the new faces?

A little bit. I’ve had the privilege of working with a lot of the newer talent at the performance center. I got to teach a lot of them some jiu-jitsu and some women’s self-defense. So I know a lot of the faces and I got to meet them a little bit.

What is it like to transition out of WWE and into teaching Brazilian jiu-jitsu?

A lot of people say that makes sense. I was a wrestler and now I teach jiu-jitsu, but they’re obviously different in many ways. However, they do kind of translate. I would say that the one thing I miss obviously is the in-ring action. The closest I get to that is being able to teach big groups of women and leading them down the path towards empowerment towards jiu-jitsu.
