Dustin Rhodes On Feeling Rejuvenated On His ‘Last Ride’ In Wrestling, Being Impressed By The Young Bucks

Dustin Rhodes spoke to the media following his tag team match at Fight For The Fallen. Dustin was asked about working with The Young Bucks and their contrasting style, and he said he’s been impressed by them for quite some time. He added that he was nervous in a way because the match served as a test to see if he could still keep up in the ring, and that the reception was positive about his performance:

“You know, when I was with the other company and I’d seen them around—they’re very impressive. They do some unbelievable stuff, unreal stuff in that ring and it’s like ‘holy moly, now I have to wrestle all these guys’ and they do all this stuff and I’m just thinking to myself like, ‘God, do I have it in me?’ I’m 50 years old—even though it’s just a number and 50 is the new 30 or whatever the saying goes—I felt good about it, but I was nervous. I wanted to be there for everything for them because I still had something to prove that I can hang with the kids because they are much younger than me, and I think I did a good job tonight. They seem to be pretty pleased. Tony’s pleased, everybody was pleased. I hope the fans were pleased. That’s all I can ask for.”

Dustin also spoke about this run with All Elite Wrestling being his ‘last ride’ in wrestling, and he said he’s not sure how long it will last. He said Double Or Nothing was supposed to be it for him, but he’s now done a second show and he’ll see where things go from here. Dustin noted breaking into acting—including roles in Thunderclap! and Cutter Bill—as something he’s passionate about but says he’s enjoying the ride right now.

“Well, Double Or Nothing was supposed to be actually, truly be ‘one last ride’ for me and that turned into two. So as long as I can still have my dreams of being and becoming an actor—which I’m already lined up for a few movies—do those maybe come in and do some stuff with the kids here because it feels good. I have been rejuvenated and it’s like I could go another year or two years. I don’t know what I’m gonna do yet though. So I have a lot to think about. There’s some stuff that’s been offered, so it’s ‘let me think about it.’ I’ll let the world know, but I’m having fun and I’m enjoying the ride right now.”
