Collector’s Corner: WWE Ultimate Edition Series 2 – Bret Hart & Shinsuke Nakamura (Photos)

On this week’s Collector’s Corner we take a look at the brand new Mattel WWE Ultimate Edition Series 2 Bret Hart & Shinsuke Nakamura figures! These have great articulation, detail and accessories to make them an ultimate addition to your action figure collection! I got mine on RingsideCollectibles.com as can you and you can save 10% with discount code MBG at checkout! That being said let’s take a look at these guys up close!

Bret Hart

Bret is probably the more controversial of the two in the set in that many people have mixed opinions on him. People feel the head scans aren’t that accurate to his likeness, and I can agree a bit but it’s certainly not awful. You could always swap the head with another Bret you like better being these are meant to have swappable accessories.

Bret features:

  • Removable sunglasses
  • Removable jacket
  • 3 sets of hands
  • 3 heads
  • 2 sets of arms (jacket/ring gear)

Bret’s parts are pretty easy to swap and his hands especially are easier to put into the jacket molds than Rousey’s were on her first Ultimate. His sunglasses sit snug under his hair, his jacket fastens closed for the most part and his ring gear in general is very detailed.

Many people’s gripes with this figure are the head scans with his likeness as well as his hair being in his face on all three of them. Besides those few things I wouldn’t say it’s too bad as it’s super detailed and looks nice as a whole. Who knows when we will get another one of him anyway and it’s pretty well done for the most part. I love the extra articulation though.

Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke, I feel, is pretty underrated in this set. Many people lost interest in him due to him not being in an interesting program on WWE currently, but this figure is nice. I was a little iffy on the head scans but once I had him in my possession I grew to like them. One of his scans is the same as his latest Elite 63 figure, which looks great.

Shinsuke features:

  • Removable jacket
  • 3 sets of hands
  • 3 heads
  • 2 sets of arms (jacket/ring gear)

Shinsuke’s jacket secures very well and the detail on him in general is really nice. The jacket even has the small hooks on his shoulders while other designs are painted on his sleeves and legs. His head sculpts are pretty good, some better than others but for the most part not bad at all. I love they captured several of his crazy expressions he does, as well as with hands you can swap out.

Many people complained about the chest joint looking goofy, which to me doesn’t look too bad as I prefer a ball-jointed torso to pose them a lot better and more realistically for my photography, so to each their own I guess. I like having a super articulated version of him as you can pose him a lot more realistically for all of his moves as well as capture his overall personality a lot better. I personally would recommend picking him up if you are a fan of his as you won’t be disappointed honestly.

Overall

This set is decent. Yes the figures have their pros and cons but they still look pretty freakin’ good in my opinion. Sometimes you gotta just take the good with the bad and these figures certainly aren’t bad. And as mentioned you can always swap a head with another if it bothers you that much. Don’t sleep on these figures though as I feel you will regret it later on. Get them over on Ringside while you can, too!
