First-Ever WWF Light Heavyweight Champion & AAA Legend Perro Aguayo Passes Away

The wrestling world is once again in mourning as professional wrestler Don Pedro “Perro” Aguayo has passed away at 73. The Mexican wrestler was active from the 70s into the early 00s and is inducted in AAA’s Hall of Fame. He also wrestled for UWF Japan, which used to be associated with the WWF. This led to him becoming the first and only WWF Intercontinental Tag Team Champion alongside Gran Hamada. He also held the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship several times, although these Japanese reigns are not counted by WWE.

Aguayo competed in a number of Luchas de Apuestas matches throughout his illustrious career. His final one was in 2005 where he and his son, Perro Aguayo Jr., defeated Cien Caras and Mascara Ano 2000 in a hair match. He also claimed a number of masks as he defeated Konnan, Stuka, Diablo Rojo, and Mascara Ano 2000 at the initial Triplemania.

Condolences to his friends and family.
