Chinese promotion Oriental Wrestling Entertainment announced today that they’d be expanding operations to the United Kingdom. In a statement to press, OWE President Dragon Fu announced the expansion as well as two signings from the UK wrestling scene. Both “Filthy Gorgeous” Rob Sharpe and Lou King Sharp will now travel to China to get acclimated to the company’s “Kung-Fu style of professional wrestling” ahead of OWE’s UK debut. When the company begins in late September, there will be a pair of championship tournaments for the new promotion, one for a heavyweight title and one for tag teams.

Newly appointed SVP of OWE United Kingdom Sean McMahon had this to add about the new venture. “This is an incredible opportunity for the UK. In true OWE style, fans can expect a slice of the unexpected with all this talent on one stage. The United Kingdom is a hotbed of pro-wrestling and OWE United Kingdom will bridge the gap between the East and West.”
OWE is one of the promotions partnered with AEW. Their tag team The Stronghearts wrestled at Double or Nothing, and SCU appeared at an OWE Shanghai event back in May. One assumes that this talent exchange will extend to the UK brand.
