Cody Rhodes took part in a media scrum following Saturday’s Double Or Nothing pay-per-view. Cody was asked about the build up to his match with his brother, including Dustin wearing a ‘Dusty’s Favorite’ t-shirt to the weigh-in ceremony at Starrcast. Cody doesn’t think that crossed a line and joked about how he was really the favorite, then said Dustin‘s mind games work because the fans were chanting it during their match:
“No. It’s funny because I was clearly his favorite. It’s well documented. [laughs] No, he’s a performer, always, first and foremost. That was something he didn’t tell me about. It’s okay, you know, that’s the type of risk he takes.
It sounds cheesy or whatever but wrestling is hard. When it’s done right, man, a performer being able to perform on a level like that and do things like that, you can’t take that away from him. And sometimes it’s a miss, and that wasn’t a miss. They chanted it tonight.”
Cody was also asked if there’s any level of satisfaction in getting a great match on Saturday considering the brothers never got that platform in WWE. Cody had addressed this earlier in the weekend, but reiterated that he never wanted to face Dustin (as Goldust) at WrestleMania.
“So, back when the situation came up when we might have wrestled at WrestleMania, I actually—we’ve actually talked about this before—I didn’t want to do it. I wanted to do the ladder match that year. I wanted to move away from Dustin because we have a really unique relationship, but in such a strange way it’s cathartic what happened.
It is real between he and I. A different upbringing, a different lifestyle, the prodigal sons dead on for who we are. But, he’s my brother. So, I just—I was so happy that he got to be out here. Because these fans are so different. He got to be there—by no means was he going to retire. He’s not done. He went from saying ‘I never want to be in the ring with my brother ever again’ to ‘I got to be in there with him one more time.’ Just, a really crazy experience out there.”

Cody continued, talking about the emotions involved in the match and said he burned a bridge with WWE with this show, but it had to go to that level in order to beat the expectations fans had coming off of All In:
“So, when it’s done right, you make people mad, you make people happy, you make people cry. I was crying too, Dustin was crying—it had to be a step up from All In, man. It had to; everything has to be a step up. That’s why I said to these guys, ‘Hey, will you follow us?’ I mean that. This is – we put our names on this. I literally burned a bridge tonight. I can’t go back. I’m fine with that. I want us to play and I thought the whole show needed to be a step up from All In.”
