Billy Graham On WrestleMania 35 Main Event: ‘It Was A Horrible Match’

Former world champion and WWE Hall of Fame Billy Graham recently sat down with The Hannibal TV to discuss a wide-ranging variety of topics, including the main event of WrestleMania 35, which saw Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair compete for both WWE RAW and SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Billy Graham on Ronda Rousey

When asked if Graham thought that the triple threat match would have been the main event if pay-per-views still needed to be individually bought via cable providers, Graham brought up the history of Rousey. “I don’t believe that it would have been like the old school pay-per-views that did tremendous business, because Ronda Rousey was not really over, she was pushed more than any other human being, female or male, in the history of the WWE,” he said. “She had the biggest push of anyone in the history of that company, and still was not over. You cannot convince me that she would have sold one ticket.”

Graham went on to discuss the match, and by the sounds of it, he was not a fan. “It was a horrible match,” he said. “I saw highlights of it, but it was a perfect opportunity for Vince to use those three girls…because of Rousey’s UFC past, even though she got her ass kicked in those last two fights.” Graham went on to discuss Rousey’s history with the UFC, including her multiple losses and her reaction.

“You cannot tell me she’s the greatest UFC female fighter ever, when you lose your last two by such horrific short-time knockouts. And then you cry in the ring like a child…she sat there and wept in the ring like a baby, and then said that she was going to commit suicide over the loss. This woman is such a mental case, that I don’t know how she made it through an entire 12 months, from the first Mania to the next.”

Judging from his opinion, it seems as if Graham doesn’t believe that the match would have done so well in a previous era of wrestling, and it doesn’t seem like he’s a big fan of Rousey in general. But regardless of the outcome, it seems as if the fans enjoyed the match, and truly did love Becky Lynch coming away as the champion.
