Ric Flair’s Doctors Confirm Surgery Was Successful; Rep For Flair Says Procedure Was Not Pre-Planned

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair’s surgery is said to have been a success, according to a report by TMZ Sports.

The 16-time world champion was recently pulled from his scheduled appearance at Starrcast II this weekend, leading many to believe that there was more to the story regarding his health. Now, though, his wife Wendy has confirmed Flair’s successful surgery and is on his way to a full recovery. A representative from Ric Flair’s camp sent us the following statement on behalf of Wendy:

“I am so happy to report he is out of surgery and in the recovery room. Doctors said the procedure was a success!”

It was noted that Wendy wants to thank everyone for all the prayers and support during this difficult time, and Flair’s surgery this morning does mean he will no longer be appearing at Starrcast. We were told that while Ric does bounce back quickly, he’s still in the hospital recovering and there’s no way for him to travel now, confirming TMZ’s initial report that he would not be headed to Las Vegas.

The rep also told Wrestlezone that despite claims that this was a planned procedure, it in fact was a serious situation and Ric was unexpectedly rushed to the hospital Thursday morning. Flair was admitted and told right away that he would undergo surgery the next morning. Due to more complications that came up on Friday, the decision was then made to push surgery to earlier this morning. It was noted by the rep that statements saying the surgery was pre-planned and that it was not a health emergency are incorrect.
