Brock Lesnar has once again announced his retirement from mixed martial arts (MMA). The UFC was attempting to book a heavyweight title fight between “The Beast” and Daniel Cormier for this summer. However, UFC President Dana White has said that he was told Brock Lesnar is “done” with MMA.
Now, Cormier is expected to move on and fight Stipe Miocic in a rematch come August. As for Lesnar, TMZ reports that the former WWE Universal Champion was tested just weeks before making the decision to retire. Lesnar has been tested nine times over the past year. This year, he was tested in the first quarter (between January and March) once, and also tested again in April.
The United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) has not made his test results public. However, USADA did confirm that Lesnar was tested between April 1 and 18. Lesnar has had issues with USADA in the past. He tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug (PED) after his unanimous decision win over Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in 2016.
As a result, his victory was overturned and Lesnar was suspended for a year. Last July, Lesnar entered the Octagon and shoved heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. The incident seemed to be the beginning of the build-up to an eventual fight. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that’s happening.
