Sasha Banks is reportedly at a ‘stalemate’ with WWE in regards to a return, and the situation could see her sitting out a the rest of her contract instead of having her release granted.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the situation with Banks and WWE remains unchanged after Banks reportedly asked for her release following her Women’s Tag Team Championship loss at Wrestlemania 35. It had previously been reported that Banks signed a new multi-year deal with WWE, and Meltzer said if she’s trying to sit out the remainder of the deal, WWE could be prepared to let her wait it out instead of granting a release.
“Sasha Banks, the situation is unchanged. They are right now at a stalemate, and the word is—and of course you know how this goes—but the word is that if she wants to sit out the rest of her contract, she can sit out the rest of her contract. And of course, if you know what that means, that means she’s going to be sitting out forever because they’re going to add time for not working so, it’s—these contracts are very, very difficult.”

Banks has not been seen on WWE TV since then, and was said to be upset not only because she and Bayley were reportedly promised a lengthy title run, but also because the team was split up with Bayley’s move to SmackDown. It was previously noted that WWE is ‘hopeful’ Banks will reconsider, and it was expected to be at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view after her sabbatical. Meltzer went on to add that WWE wants her to come back, and Sasha wants things to be different, although what that ‘different’ is remains to be seen.
Meltzer closed by saying next week’s RAW will be a ‘telling sign’ about her involvement in the PPV, and if she’s not back by next week, she’ll most likely not appear at MITB either.
