Colin Jost Comments On Working With WWE
After working with WWE, SNL’s Colin Jost reflected on working with the company heading into WrestleMania 35 earlier this month. Jost was interviewed by Kevin Nealon for his YouTube channel. Jost explained how he and Michael Che’s opportunity with WWE came about:
It happened because, Che is a really die-hard WWE fan, and I was all growing up. It was, like, a huge thing for my brother and I. Che had talked to – I think had just gone to a couple of events before, and they were like, ‘You guys should come and do something’ – which they never do, which was a cool honor, it was really cool.
Jost then explained the similarities between WWE and SNL, especially the live aspect of the show:
It’s weirdly like SNL – slightly more physical – it’s all live, so they’re all super professional. They’re on the road – it’s the biggest traveling show in the world, they’re on the road like 300 days a year.
Then, Jost dove into going “full heel” in New Jersey by wearing an Odell Beckham Jr. Cleveland Browns jersey in MetLife Stadium, where Beckham used to play for the New York Giants before being traded:
I wore a Cleveland Browns, Oddell Beckham Jr. jersey. I was going full heel. And we had done something in Philly and I wore a Mets hat in Philly – got booed pretty hard. It was fun actually. It’s good when you’re intentionally getting booed. That feels good. Unintentional booes not as good. After a joke, not as fun.
