Sting Willing To Return To Ring For Undertaker Match

Whenever Sting and WWE come up in the same conversation, the thought is usually the same. What would happen if WCW’s Crow faced off with WWE’s Deadman? WWE fans have clamored for the match for over a decade, but the stars seemingly never aligned. Now, with Sting retired from in-ring competition and The Undertaker making only limited appearances, it seems like the dream match will never occur. However, at least one party is willing to keep hope alive.

Speaking with Wrestling Travel, Sting stated that he’d only ever return to active competition for one man. One dead man.

“I mean, everyone knows who it would be. Taker, he’s the only guy I’d come out of retirement for now. No one else. We could just never get it together to make it happen. When I started talking to WWE he was booked with Brock and then I did the deal with Triple H and he had another feud going on at the time, so it was just one of those things we couldn’t make happen.

“But I don’t regret it not happening either, I mean I got to face Triple H at my first WrestleMania and then wrestle Seth for the world title, so I didn’t do too badly out of that deal. But yeah, now, the only person I’m getting back in the ring for is Taker.”

Sting also stated that there were no ongoing plans for him in WWE if his unfortunate injury hadn’t forced retirement. He was just going to appear when it was “best for business.” It’s possible we wouldn’t have gotten the Taker match even if things hadn’t gone south. With Taker possibly not showing up at all to this year’s WrestleMania, we’ll just have to keep taking it to 2K to see these two dark icons clash.
