Report: WWE Possibly Reconsidering Kurt Angle’s WrestleMania Opponent

The fans have spoken, and WWE might be forced to change Kurt Angle’s WrestleMania 35 opponent after all. The WrestleVotes Twitter account is reporting that WWE is reconsidering Angle vs. Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35. Apparently, WWE did not anticipate the bout to receive as much of a negative reaction as it has:

Angle and Corbin have a history with one another on WWE TV. Corbin made Angle’s life a living hell when he served as RAW General Manager several months ago. Eventually, Angle was relieved of his duties, ordered to take a mandatory vacation, leaving Corbin in charge of Monday nights.

It should be noted that both Dave Meltzer and PWInsider reported this week that Corbin vs. Angle was still a lock for WrestleMania. In fact, PWInsider noted that WWE knew the negative reaction the match would receive, which is why they’re playing up to the feedback on social media. The report included that Angle himself was hoping for a more high-profile opponent.

Fans have been calling for Angle to have his final match against John Cena in New Jersey. It would be fitting considering Angle welcomed Cena onto the main roster when he made his debut back in 2002. In recent weeks, Angle has been facing names like Apollo Crews and Chad Gable on Monday Night RAW for his ‘Farewell Tour.’ We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
