The Rock Says He Transcended Race In Wrestling, There Was No ‘Booked That Way’

Wrestling fans have long argued over The Rock identifying as black or Samoan, how he was booked in WWE and the ‘lack’ of a black WWE Champion in the history books.

Recently, The Rock responded to a fan thread arguing over that notion and more recent events, notably the perception that Vince McMahon is trying to stop a black man (Kofi Kingston) from being champion. The Rock saw the threaded conversation and took time to set the record straight, saying he identifies as both black and Samoan, and is equally proud of both ethnicities. He continued, saying despite what the fans might think, he was never booked a certain way in WWE because of being bi-racial or identifying as Black or Samoan, because he transcended race in wrestling:

Glad I came across this and I’ll give you guys some context & truth. I identify as exactly what I am – both. Equally proud. Black/Samoan. And my friend, let me expand your thoughts a bit here – I transcended race in wrestling so there was no “booked that way”. Thx guys
