Jim Ross’ WWE Contract Ends This Month, Teases Future Work

Jim Ross has announced that he will be leaving WWE when his contract expires at the end of March. Ross relayed the news on his podcast, saying that he wants to explore more play-by-play opportunities. His contract will expire on March 29 and he said that he believes he “won’t be out of work long.”

Ross had returned on WWE commentary in 2017, where he was on the call for The Undertaker’s match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33. The WWE Hall of Famer also was on commentary for the first Mae Young Classic in 2017 and select NXT matches since his return.

During that time Ross was also a play-by-play announcer for New Japan Pro-Wrestling on AXS TV, but that deal expired in 2018.
