WWE Live Event Results From Edinburg, TX (2/15/19): Elias Works Face, Ruby Riott Fights Ronda Rousey

WWE RAW ran a house show in Endinburg, Texas, last night. One of our readers attended the event, and was gracious enough to send in a report. It looks like an interesting event, as it previewed the Ruba Riott vs. Ronda Rousey match from Elimination Chamber and showed Elias working as a babyface.

Check out the report below from reader, D Vargas:

Before the show, they were running the “Top Ten” video from this week’s Raw along with the promo videos for Elimination Chamber and Wrestlemania. Them they had us do an online vote on the best match in Mania history. Taker/HBK from WrestleMania 25 won and we were shown highlights. They ran the Pedro Morales tribute video followed by a moment of silence and a ten bell salute for him. Very classy.

Match 1: IC Title Triple Threat Match: Lashley def. Dean Ambrose and Apollo Crews
Ambrose is still so over. He looked like he was genuinely having a good time. Solid match with good performances by all.

Match 2: 6-Man Tag Team Match
Lucha House Party def. Jinder Mahal and Singh Brothers.
Jinder is huge in person. Still a good heel who knows how to get heat. Some anti-Hispanic stuff on the mic here in south Texas. Lucha House Party came out to a crazy pop. I even found myself doing the “Lucha” thing. Those guys are super talented. Awesome closing sequence with Kalisto getting the pin after his finisher.

Match 3: Drew McIntyre def. Elias
Elias came out and played face for this one which was interesting. He invited No Way Jose out to duet with him but Drew came and beat up No Way. Dammit, is Drew huge. He cut a promo which led to a really good match. These guys did great. Elias did Undertaker’s Old School but called it Walk With Elias. After losing, Elias received an standing ovation.

Match 4: RAW Women’s Championship Ronda Rousey def. Ruby Riott
Ronda is a star. She was the ticket seller. They went nuts for her. Another good match with Ruby getting good offense and some near falls that even fooled me. Ronda wins with the arm bar.

Match 5 : Mojo Rawley def. Tyler Breeze
Even though this was a nothing match, I feel Mojo is somewhat underrated. He’s fast and has a lot of energy. Played well to the crowd too.

Match 6: The Revival def. Chad Gable & Bobby Roode

This was the match of the night. I read that these teams were tearing it up on the road and man, did they ever. I hope they allow this on PPV. So many false finishes, had us on the edge of our seats. Made me think the title change was actually going to happen. It got “This is awesome!” chants. All men deserve credit.

Main Event: Street Fight – Braun Strowman def. Baron Corbin

Entertaining match where they went all over the arena. Braun got a pretty good scar on his back from being thrown through the steel steps. Braun wins after a power slam through a table. Afterwards, he went around shaking hands, taking pics and signing autographs.

Good show with my mind being changed on some wrestlers. Considering they’re a little more free during live events, some wrestlers shined more than I expected.

Takeaways from D Vargas:

  • Corbin and Rawley were actually good heels with the crowd.
  • Ruby Riott has a nice moment where a little girl celebrating her birthday kept calling her and she winked at the little girl.
  • Lucha House Party don’t get the credit they deserve. They can go.
  • It was interesting to see Elias play face considering his recent turn.
  • Funny moment where Braun accidentally spit in the ref’s face.
  • During the street fight, Braun kept getting a table and Baron would hide it back under the ring. Braun also kept grabbing a kendo stick from Baron’s hand and breaking it in half. Baron sold it hilariously.
