The wrestling world was saddened to learn about the passing of WWE Hall of Famer Pedro Morales, who died yesterday at the age of 76. The WWE has now released a tribute video honoring the late wrestling icon.

RARE Pedro Morales Interview Released

Legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter has released rare Pedro Morales audio from his archives. The first is a 1971 interview Apter did with Morales via New York’s WHBI FM. The interview occurred only minutes after Morales pinned Ivan Koloff to become the new WWWF Champion. Interview appears below and readers are encouraged to turn the volume up:

The year, 1973. Bruno Sammartino is asked by Bill Apter if he would grant a WWWF title shot to former champion and friend Pedro Morales. Pedro is there and chimes in with his thoughts. Also Bruno addresses the question “Why hasn’t Chief Jay Strongbow ever gotten a WWWF title shot?” Taped on location in the dressing room at Madison Square Garden.
