Jay White Becomes 68th IWGP Heavyweight Champion

At last Monday’s New Beginning In Osaka, Switchblade Jay White defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to become the 68th IWGP Heavyweight Champion. After just-over 30-minutes of action, White countered High Fly Flow with Blade Runner to earn the pinfall. It is White’s first IWGP Heavyweight Championship, and the first time that Tanahashi has lost a title belt with no successful defenses. Tanahashi won the belt on Jan. 4th, holding the title for 38 days.

White To Defend Title Against New Japan Cup Winner

NJPW has announced that “Switchblade” Jay White will defend the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against the winner of this year’s New Japan Cup. The match will take place at G1 Supercard in New York, NY on April 6th.

Matches Announced For NJPW Anniversary Show

New Japan Pro-Wrestling has announced that Taiji Ishimori will defend the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship against Jushin Thunder Liger on March 6th at NJPW’s 47th Anniversary Show. Also announced BUSHI & Shingo Takagi will defend the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship against SHO & YOH.
