MMA Junkie revealed main card salary information for this Saturday’s Bellator 214 card. Despite never previously competing in Bellator, former WWE Superstar Jake Hager (formerly known as Jack Swagger) is set to make $50,000 for the evening. The sum is more than seven times that of his opponent J.W. Kiser, who is set to make $7,000. If Kiser wins, that amount can increase to $14,000 total. Jack Swagger makes $50,000 just for showing up; however, the former WWE Superstar will receive no bonus for victory.
Hager is set to be the third highest paid competitor on the card just for showing up. Only main event competitors Fedor Emelianenko ($300,000) and Ryan Bader ($150,000) are set to make more just for showing up.
MMA Junkie also notes the following:
Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors. They also do not include any other “locker room” or special discretionary bonuses Bellator could pay. In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.
Swagger, a former WWE World Champion, was released from his WWE contract in March of 2017. He has subsequently wrestled on the independents and for Lucha Underground.
Bellator 214 takes place tomorrow evening at The Forum in Inglewood, California and can be seen on the Paramount Network. The main card begins at 9PM EST.
