In the wake of UFC 232 last night, UFC president Dana White provided an update on the future of Brock Lesnar in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Lesnar squared off with Daniel Cormier earlier this year at UFC 226 with many believing that would be his return fight, but he still needs to get through the required USADA testing re-entry period which is set to end in early 2019.

Because of Jon Jones’ win over Alexander Gustafsson last night, that also opens up the door for Jones to fight Cormier for the third time instead of Brock. A lot will depend on whether or not Cormier decides to stick to his March retirement date, because if he does, then it’s likely a toss-up between Jones and Lesnar regarding who gets the fight.

White also stated that if Cormier decides to fight three more times, which he believes is a possibility, then Jon Jones, Brock Lesnar and Stipe Miocic all make sense for the champ-champ.

On if Brock Lesnar is out of the title picture:

“No, he’s not. He’s not out of the picture.”

On if the UFC could sign him:

“Absolutely. I think he’s already under contract with me.”

On his future:

“We were talking about it, and then he ended up signing a new deal with WWE. What I think happens is that he’s in a very unique position, because he can play this thing between UFC and WWE. They get right down to the wire, and I think Vince throws so much money at him that he goes ‘alright, I’ll do it again’. Because this is here no matter what. When he’s ready, he can come in here and fight and he’s gonna make a s***load of money here too. So it makes sense. I assume that’s what’s going on.”
